There Are Consequences (Or Fried by Fry’s – Part II)

On December 10, I posted Fried by Fry’s. Although it may have seemed to be a rant (which it was) there really was more to it. Surprisingly, reporter Jill Griffin wrote a great article in the Austin Business Journal about me. Well, not about ‘me’ personally, but about unhappy customers. One unhappy customer can multiply to many – Austin Business Journal.

What’s truly amazing is that Ms. Griffin’s article was written 10 years ago!

One of the points made in the article is, “It was a strong reminder of the often heard statistics that a typical dissatisfied customer will tell eight to 10 people about his or her experience. One in five will tell 20 or more. But it’s probable those word-of-mouth statistics are understated in today’s marketplace.” Don’t forget “today’s market” was 1999 and everybody and their dog (or even Chamber presidents) didn’t have a blog. Just think what thosse number look like today with the help of our friend the world wide web!
